Born of Utah monogamists and raised by genetically altered giant brine shrimp on the shores of the Great Salt Lake,
Bill Tanner never could keep his mouth shut.
Tanner's favorite childhood toy was a
General Electric tape recorder with one-touch operation. He would sit on his Grandmother's lap, roll tape, and ask to hear stories about “the good ole days”. After Grandma would share her wisdom, little Tanner would stop the tape and say, "Uh, great, great, can you do that again, only this time let’s try and keep it under 60 seconds?"
A man born for radio! However; the route to the microphone was not exactly a direct one. Tanner made stops along the way as a waiter, a carnival ride operator and even a mailroom clerk. His fate would be sealed when a doctor handed down a fateful diagnosis. Tanner was clinically allergic to real work. The cubicle was not his friend. Pure poison in fact!
Tanner has always believed that one must take at least one lasting and valuable lesson from each place you’ve lived and worked. From Logan he learned that it is both frightening and oddly exciting to breath air so cold that your nose hairs stick together. From his many years in Salt Lake City, he learned that even an extremely conservative community can be vibrant and alive with people from all over the globe. (Of course, it helps to slip a little something extra to any international Olympic committee member you might encounter.) A brief stay in Portland, Oregon taught him that people really gain a lot of weight when there's that little sunshine. Finally, he learned many things in Reno Nevada. First, do NOT mispronounce TANYA Tucker. Second, the cheap and easy all-you-can-eat buffet is a beautiful, beautiful gift from Heaven, and third, never EVER split a pair of tens. Ever!
After spending many years circling San Diego like a hungry predator waiting for just the right opportunity to strike, he has found his home with the "Cliff & Company" morning show on legendary KSON.
