Living Better in San Diego

CRISPE and the National Coalition For Men

Airdate: Sunday, July 14, 2013

The family court system and child support system in San Diego County, and elsewhere, is old, outdated and in need of a major overhaul, and in far too many cases, very biased.  Joining us this morning to shed some light on the subject is Larry Kerkman, founder of CRISPE, a local organization raising awareness about the need to share parenting equally and the president of the National Coalition For Men, Harry Crouch.

    Great interview CRISPE 1 and 2. You covered a lot of content, that needs to be discussed in a public forum such as this.

    CRISPE 4 is disappointed you didn't School Gary when he used the term Dead-Beat Dad. That word needs to be no longer used. If you insist, say Dead-Beat Mom, since they are almost twice as likely to not pay their child support. But, better to not use it at all.

    How about calling them Disenfranchised Dads, since Federal Studies the two top reasons a person doesn't pay is it is set to high, they are disenfranchised from their kids.

    Get Title IV-D social security out of the mix, quit giving incentives to the States, and make this a civil issue. If you can't handle the other parent having equal time, give up yours to the parent that is. And, start prosecuting for false allegations of Domestic Violence and for Parenting Plan Violations.

    Cave the Children - equal parenting now!

      @JoelJ_6319 Hi JoelJ_6319,

      Thank you for your comment. I agree with you that there are plenty of deadbeat moms, my ex included. I was using the terminology that is currently out there. As I mentioned, the system is creating what we know as "deadbeat dads" by by setting child support payments way too high and keeping us from our children.

      I told Larry and Harry that thirty minutes was not enough to cover all that needed to be covered. So, I just might have to have them back in the future.

      Again, thanks for your comment and thanks for listening!

    Gary, thanks for your response, I appreciate it.

    I would like to followup with a request - can be abolish the use of the word Dead-beat dad, since we all seem to be in agreement here - that there issues with this term.

    Seriously, I'd like to see it never used again - as it is disparaging to men, and not an accurate portrayal based on the real facts.

    Regards,

    Joel Johnston
