Fueled by Santa Ana winds, a fast-moving brush fire that started Monday evening remains out of control in Ventura County.

The 'Thomas Fire' erupted shortly after 6pm in the Santa Paula area.  By 11pm, nearly 10,000 acres had burned.  As of 9:00am this morning (12/5), Cal Fire estimates the affected acreage at 45,000.

San Diego fire officials have sent some equipment and personnel to assist Ventura County fire departments.

Over 150 structures have been destroyed in the blaze and tens of thousands are under evacuation orders.
